    Realism at its finest.You're standing on a steam-filled platform, your dearest love in your arms weeping, swearing she will return to you, swearing time will not erase the love that has grown and that one day, one day she will come back. You close your eyes and embrace - a train whistle blows. You open your eyes, and it turns out you dozed off watching sports center again, and your 5 year old has picked up his 4 tone pinewood train whistle and is blowing for all he's worth.Dang this thing sounds real. 5LOVE this - great for oral muscle development and not too annoying :PMy husband works for the Railroad so when my son's speech therapist said these whistles are great for oral muscle development, I jumped at the chance!With prime it was here blazingly quick, the next day (love you Amazon!) and works like a charm. My husband was even amused at how much it sounded like a train.It's HUGE though. Seriously probably 6-8" long but that doesn't interfere with a 2-year-old holding it - I guess it just surprised me when I expected a little toy whistle. 5Not Made in the USAWhistle works fine. Since it's for my 2 year old, I checked for any splinters/rough wood and there are none. It's well sanded and there's no trace of sloppy gluing. I like that it's USA made and kept thinking it would be neat to see a How Its Made episode on it. 5High pitched but not too loud (thank goodness)I bought this for a young neighbor's birthday and he enjoys it mightily. It takes a good amount of air to get a decent sound out of it and it's not very loud, and that's a blessing for his parents since he uses it so much. I brought them to a local engraving shop to have them personalized for my son's birthday. They came out beautifully and still make a perfect train sound. They do take a little extra air to get a good noise. My 2 year old still can't fully get the noise. 5Large whistleI have no idea if this is hand crafted or not but the attention to detail is amazing. To start off, its a wooden toy with no grains sticking out to give the kids splinters. Its finely sanded all around including rounded corners. Its a large whistle at 8x1.5x1.5 inches. It sounds really nice too. The pitch of the sound is a bit low. If you were a fan of Thomas the Train, this wont match the sound. If amazon allowed me to submit audio, I would give an example of how awesome it sounds. 5but it has turned out to be a really fun addition to my son's large collectionALL ABOARD!!! My wife and I bought this whistle to go along with a train book for our 18 month old son. He has had a blast with this whistle. I've gotta say.. We actually bought our second whistle for a toddler in our neighborhood to have. 5/5! 5Interest Dependent ToyA nicely made, novelty toy, it is probably best suited to kids (or adults) who really love trains. It was not a hit at our house, I think I liked it better than anyone else. The kids found it interesting for all of about 10 seconds and now don't play with it at all. The one we received operates at a low-to-medium volume. I think it might be more interesting if it were louder, and that might be a "toy specific" issue (like which one you get). Not a bad toy, just not for everyone. 3
