During Spring Break, three California college friends embark on a New Mexico mountain trip, expecting snowboarding, beer, and fun. However, upon arrival at Taos Ski Valley, they find an older couple in the cabin they thought was theirs. Days later, Casey's sister, Kelly, learns their mother is critically ill and urgently needs to reach Casey. Sheriff Evan Richards' investigation finds no evidence of the boys' arrival, leading to a mystery that Kelly and Samantha must solve without police help, using clues from a mysterious book of runes to find Casey and get him home in time.
